Den Ausgangspunkt dieser Studie bildet ein schmales Oktavbändchen des Halleschen Theologen Johann Jacob Rambach (1693–1735) mit dem Titel Geistliche Poesien aus dem Jahre 1720, das Kantatentexte für alle kirchlichen Sonn- und Feiertage enthält. 45 Komponisten lassen sich nachweisen, die Texte dieses Kantatenjahrgangs vertonen, darunter namhafte wie Georg Philipp Telemann (1681–1767), Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (1710–1784) und Georg Anton Benda (1722– 1795). Die Studie legt dar, dass die Kantatentexte von Rambach in ein Netz von unterschiedlichen Bezügen eingebettet sind und verschiedene Einflüsse aufnehmen, deren Synopse erst den eigentlichen Gehalt der Texte ans Licht bringt. Die Untersuchung verschiedener historischer Wissensdiskurse zeigt, dass sich die in den Diskursen produzierten Ideen, Normen und Kategorien in den Kantatentexten widerspiegeln.

The starting point for this study is a slim octavo volume by the Halle theologian Johann Jacob Rambach (1693–1735) entitled Geistliche Poesien (Sacred Poetry) from 1720, which contains cantata texts for all church Sundays and holidays. Forty-five composers can be identified as having set the texts of this cantata year to music, including such renowned figures as Georg Philipp Telemann (1681–1767), Wilhelm Friedemann Bach (1710–1784) and Georg Anton Benda (1722–1795). The study shows that Rambach's cantata texts are embedded in a network of different references and incorporate various influences, the synopsis of which brings the actual content of the texts to light. The examination of various historical discourses on knowledge shows that the ideas, norms and categories produced in these discourses are reflected in the cantata texts.
