Volume II/2, presented in tabular form, contains evidence of the occurrence of more than 3,100 hymns in German and Latin in 56 editions of PRAXIS PIETATIS MELICA from 1640 to around 1737 and in its two accompanying publications from 1649 and 1670. It thus provides, for the first time in this form, the opportunity to trace the use or non-use of these hymns in one of the most important hymnals of the 17th and 18th centuries. This overview also represents a representative cross-section of the sacred song repertoire of the time, which not only included songs from the Reformation period and Lutheran orthodoxy, but was also characterised above all by countless new compositions in terms of both lyrics and melody.
The extensive text excerpts, which also serve as song titles, enable the reader to explore the religious, cultural and musical history of the songs commonly sung at a particular time and place, while also helping them to find a specific song and its first or last occurrence within the numerous editions of PRAXIS PIETATIS MELICA.

This book is published in German.
