Mit der Edition des Manuskriptes Handbuch bey der Music-Information im Paedagogio zu Catharinenhof besonders auf das Clavier applicirt, in vier Lehr-Classen und einem Supplement, nebst einer Beylage, die Zeichen und Aufgaben in sich enthaltend (Manuskript, Großhennersdorf bei Herrnhut 1758) von Johann Daniel Grimm aus dem Jahr 1758 wird hier ein handschriftlich überliefertes musikpädagogisches Lehrwerk herrnhutischer Provenienz vorgelegt, das in der Forschung zum Thema »Pietismus und Musik« bisher nur wenig Beachtung gefunden hat. Die Grundlage dieser Edition bildet eine Abschrift des Handbuchs von Christian Gregor (1723–1801), da das Originalmanuskript von Johann Daniel Grimm (1719–1760) nicht mehr erhalten ist. Gegliedert ist es in einen Haupt- und einen Ergänzungsteil sowie einer Beilage mit Notenbeispielen. Die ausführliche Einleitung liefert neben Anmerkungen zum Handbuch selbst Erläuterungen zu Grimms musikalischem Werdegang und den Rahmenbedingungen seines Musikunterrichts in Großhennersdorf. Darüber hinaus erfolgt der Versuch einer Einordnung der Schrift in die Geschichte der Musikpädagogik sowie ein kurzer Abriss über den Forschungsstand. Erschlossen ist die Edition über ein Personenregister.

With the edition of the manuscript Handbuch bey der Music-Information im Paedagogio zu Catharinenhof besonders auf das Clavier applicirt, in vier Lehr-Classen und einem Supplement, nebst einer Beylage, die Zeichen und Aufgaben in sich enthaltend (Manuscript, Großhennersdorf near Herrnhut 1758) by Johann Daniel Grimm from 1758, a handwritten music education textbook of Herrnhut origin is presented here, which has received little attention in research on the subject of ‘Pietism and Music’ to date. This edition is based on a copy of the handbook by Christian Gregor (1723–1801), as the original manuscript by Johann Daniel Grimm (1719–1760) is no longer extant. It is divided into a main section and a supplementary section, as well as an appendix with musical examples. In addition to comments on the handbook itself, the detailed introduction provides explanations of Grimm's musical career and the conditions under which he taught music in Großhennersdorf. Furthermore, an attempt is made to classify the text in the history of music education, and a brief overview of the current state of research is provided. The edition is indexed by a register of persons.
