Gebätbüchlein (Berlin 1661)

The famous prayer book by Johann Habermann (1516–1590), first printed in 1567 and republished and revised many times since then, appears here as an appendix to Johann Crüger's PRAXIS PIETATIS MELICA as its last »EDITIO X.« published during Crüger's lifetime in 1661. The text is thus part of the edition project and contributes to the understanding of the influential hymnbook. Following an edition from 1661, it appears in a version that is almost 100 years younger than its first printing. There are isolated deviations in the concordances to the original text, but more important are the newly added sections of text. Thus, the edition also appears as a contribution to the reception history of the Habermann Gebätbüchlein (Prayer-Book), the complete recording of which is still pending and depends on contributions such as the present one.
