Kräuterbücher, Herbarien, Floren und andere botanische Werke des Mittelalters und der Frühen Neuzeit gewähren einen faszinierenden Einblick in die Geschichte der Naturwissenschaften. Hierzu präsentiert das Museum Otto Schäfer in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Stadtarchiv Schweinfurt, den Franckeschen Stiftungen und der Bibliothek der Leopoldina – Nationale Akademie der Wissenschaften in Halle eine Ausstellung und einen reich bebilderten Begleitkatalog. Anhand repräsentativer Werke aus den reichen Beständen der Leihgeber werden Werke der Botanik vom Mittelalter bis ins 18. Jahrhundert unter verschiedenen Aspekten gezeigt. 

Herbal books, herbariums, floras, and other botanical works from the Middle Ages and early modern period offer a fascinating insight into the history of natural sciences. To this end, the Otto Schäfer Museum, in collaboration with the Schweinfurt City Archives, the Francke Foundations, and the Library of the Leopoldina – National Academy of Sciences in Halle, is presenting an exhibition and a richly illustrated accompanying catalog. Representative works from the rich holdings of the lenders are used to showcase works of botany from the Middle Ages to the 18th century from various perspectives.
