Das Kind in Pietismus und Aufklärung

Unter dem Titel »Das Kind in Pietismus und Aufklärung« werden die Erträge eines internationalen Symposions vorgelegt, das unter der wissenschaftlichen Leitung des Interdisziplinären Zentrums für Pietismusforschung in Halle am historischen Ort des von August Herrmann Francke 1698 gegründeten Waisenhauses stattfand. Ausgehend von den Begriffen Erziehung und Entwicklung entsteht in interdisziplinärer Diskussion, aus der Sicht der historischen Forschungsansätze in Pädagogik, Theologie, Medizin und Sozialwissenschaften, ein Bild der Kindheit im 17. und 18. Jahrhundert, das zur Vergewisserung auffordert, was Kindsein und kindgerechter Umgang in Erziehung, Schuldidaktik und medizinischer Behandlung heute bedeuten.

Entitled »The Child in Pietism and the Enlightenment,« this publication presents the findings of an international symposium held under the academic direction of the Interdisciplinary Center for Pietism Research in Halle at the historic site of the orphanage founded by August Herrmann Francke in 1698. Based on the concepts of education and development, an interdisciplinary discussion from the perspective of historical research approaches in pedagogy, theology, medicine, and social sciences paints a picture of childhood in the 17th and 18th centuries that calls for reassurance about what it means to be a child and to treat children appropriately in education, school teaching, and medical treatment today.
